Norway: Controller - region Central-West Africa and Latin America

The Controller is responsible for giving financial support to selected country offices and managing the financial reporting for 2-3 assigned country programmes in the region. The Controller will be the point of contact for all Finance Managers in the selected Country Offices.

Job description

• GENERIC RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor overall financial reporting and financial control, as well as cash flows for NRC Country Offices (CO). Report on deviations and recommend corrective actions
• Coordinate and consolidate the Country Office’s budgeting and reporting and produce required analysis and reports assigned by Head of Support Unit
• Control that budgeting, accounting, year-end procedures, auditing and other financial processes are in adherence to Financial Handbook, Annual Budgeting and Planning Instructions, other NRC policies and donor and auditor requirements
• Advice and train the Country Director and Country Office management on the implementation of NRC’s financial systems, routines and procedures at CO level
• Train and support Finance Managers/Coordinators in COs in NRC’s financial policies, strategies and systems
• Share best practises with other controllers in NRC and with Global Finance and Accounting unit
• Regular travel to CO’s and upon request from Head of Support unit assist in the operation or cover for the Finance Manager
• Being back-up for other controllers when needed
• Carry out other duties of temporary character appointed by Head of Support Unit

• Contribute to a responsible growth of country programs in expansion

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as Finance Advisor/Expert or similar positions in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of the countries supported by the section is an asset
• A high level of French and/or Spanish skills is in an advantage
