The Norwegian Refugee Council is seeking candidates for Head of Internal Audit to support management and the organisation improving internal control, governance and risk management processes.
The Head of Internal Audit at Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) assist management to enhance the quality and effectiveness of NRC’s activities, by understanding the key risks that NRC faces and assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of NRC’s risk management and internal control systems.

Some travel to our Regional and or Country Offices countries must be expected.
The Head of Internal Audit is placed a the NRC Head Office in Oslo, reports to the Secretary General, and presents audit results to the Board in line with the NRC Internal Audit Charter.
Duties and responsibilities
- Manage and develop the Internal Audit function in NRC
- Ensure close cooperation and coordination with the Risk Management Section
- Provide assurance to the SG and Board on the effectiveness of NRC’s systems for risk management and internal control
- Define an Internal Audit strategy and plan of action in line with NRC’s overall strategic direction
- Develop relevant tools and methodologies for audit and investigation
- Conduct internal audits of NRC units or systems as required in accordance with defined standards and methodologies
- Performance management, including development of staff and holding the Unit accountable for results
- Budget responsibility for the Unit
- Conduct internal reviews at the request of senior management
- Develop and submit audit reports and recommendations to the Board, SG and relevant managers
Qualifications
- Senior management experience from complex organisations with international exposure
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, minimum 3 years from internal auditor roles
- Relevant higher education, preferably CIA internal auditor certification, and professional knowledge of audit and/or control mechanisms
- Broad experience from various assignments/levels within the humanitarian field can be an asset
- Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
- Detailed knowledge and experience of NRC’s policies and guidelines is an asset
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal

You are a confident and strong communicator with a natural inclination to relate at multi levels in and outside the organisation. Furthermore you have the ability to work systematically, independently and under pressure making sound judgements as for prioritation. You hold high ethical standards and take pride in your deliverances!
