Job Description
The Roving Humanitarian Access and Negotiations Adviser will be responsible for providing support to country offices that are struggling with access issues and/or are planning to engage in humanitarian negotiations efforts. To achieve this the advisor will:
- Support country programmes in developing and executing access strategies, including outreach and negotiations
- Provide technical support to field based access advisers
- Refine and further develop tools, guidance and training materials on access (access strategy, negotiations, remote programming)
- Train and mentor staff engaged in humanitarian access and negotiation efforts
- Document and share organisational learning on access and negotiations in NRC
- Contribute to donor applications and fund raising initiatives
- Contribute to NRC’s international advocacy efforts in relation to access
- Build relationships with relevant external stakeholders and represent NRC in international fora related to access and negotiations
- Carry out other duties of temporary character appointed by Head of Unit
Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience within the humanitarian field – minimum 3 in a highly insecure context.
- Significant experience from participating in/leading humanitarian negotiation efforts and leading teams in other efforts to increase access
- Experience form developing and conducting trainings
- Demonstrated ability to represent the organisation at a strategic level
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal. French and/or Arabic/Spanish is an asset.

- Willingness to undertake shorter missions to the field on short notice

- Contract period: 12 months, starting as soon as possible
- Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions
- Duty station: Oslo, Norway (up to 75% travel)
