Duties and responsibilities

  • Develop, enhance and coordinate the IM tools, systems and procedures of the Disaster Risk Management Unit.
  • Implement, promote and monitor IM guidelines and tools in order to achieve better IM consistency.
  • Based on analysis of needs and processes, propose and implements solutions to improve the management of the information life cycle,
  • Ensure enhancement and quality of the reporting and monitoring tool and systems.
  • Coordinate the reporting process for tertial and annual reporting.
  • Lead the extraction, analysis and validation of data related to emergency operations and produce a range of IM products – including graphics, maps and dashboards.
  • Ensure IM systems for access to updated data informing the decision making in support of, or preparation for response operations.
  • Ensure the effective use of the designated information systems, including offline and online platforms.
  • Coordinate and support DRMU initiatives/projects with the IM component.
  • Actively seek and develop internal collaboration and synergies with other departments.
  • Ensure synergies with ICRC and IFRC on IM practices.
  • Provide opportunities for sharing of lesson learnt and capacity building within the organization on Information Management and monitoring and reporting.
  • Quality assures reports on response operations led by the DRM Unit.
  • Support the creation of donor applications.
  • Facilitate access to information on emergency operations.
  • Ensures proper documentation throughout the task force life cycle.
  • Provide IM operational briefings/debriefings to outgoing/incoming delegates.
  • Based on request, act as replacement of the Operational Team Leads in leading the Task Force (TF) for NorCross' response to acute disasters, conflict and protracted crisis.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree, preferably within Project Management/Information Management or other relevant field.
  • Minimum 3-years relevant experience including in field experience.
  • Relevant work experience can compensate the absence of masters degree.
  • Proven experience in emergency response management or humanitarian settings.
  • Basic Delegates Training Course/IMPACT, or equivalent Red Cross knowledge.
  • Experience in working in an International Organization Available to deploy for short term missions at short notice on request.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Red Cross Movement.
  • Advanced knowledge of humanitarian field work including in protracted crisis.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Information Management.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant IT tools and systems Knowledge of IM tools used in humanitarian settings.

  • Quick to spot and correct errors/inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work independently while also working with others.
  • Able to recognize one’s own limitations Active listener, open to ideas and criticism and should be able to communicate clearly within team and with stakeholders.
  • Fluent written and oral skills in English. French, Arabic and Spanish language skills are an asset. Norwegian language skills or willingness to learn Norwegian.
