The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. NRC advocates for the rights of displaced populations and offers assistance within the shelter, education, emergency, food security, legal assistance, and water, sanitation and hygiene sectors.

NORCAP is the Norwegian Refugee Council’s expert deployment capacity. We improve international and local capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from crises. We do this by bringing together actors and by deploying experts to the UN and other national, regional and international organisations and institutions.

We have 25 years of experience in providing the right person, in the right place and at the right time to support humanitarian responses worldwide. NORCAP’s added value lies in the provision of a timely response with the right expertise, and in leaving behind lasting contributions and working to advance the humanitarian system.

Job description

  • Line management, project management and budget responsibility for the Partnership and Development Section within NRC’s Expert Deployment/ NORCAP department.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the development of existing and new projects within NRC’s standby roster portfolio, such as humanitarian protection, cash programming, disaster risk reduction and gender based violence.
  • Responsible for representing NRC and proactively building and strengthening our partnerships with donors, UN organisations, regional and national institutions, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsible for identification of potential donors and funding opportunities.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, development and quality assurance of all roster partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Relevant higher education, and minimum 5 years of relevant leadership/management experience within the field of expertise, preferably from the UN or other relevant organisation
  • Strategic thinking
  • Proven skills in personnel management
  • Professional experience in project management, planning and budget processes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in both Norwegian and English, other languages are an advantage
  • Experience with start-up of new initiatives and development
  • Strong ability to motivate and follow up colleagues

We offer

  • Commencement: December 2016
  • Contract period: Permanent
