Friends of the Global Fund Europe and Fund for the Global Fund are looking to recruit one full-time or two part-time Country Advocacy Lead(s) specialised in political advocacy in the Nordic region (regional scope of the project: Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden) on a consulting contract basis.

Job Description

Location: 1 Country Lead based in either Norway or Sweden (full time – travel required) OR 1 Country Lead based in Norway and 1 Country Lead based in Sweden – (part time - when required)

Duration of contract: 1 year, renewable

Level of effort: 100% if one person (20 working days/month) or 50% if 2 persons (10 working days per month)

Report to: Executive Directors of Friends of the Global Fund Europe and Executive Director of Fund for the Global Fund

POSITION SUMMARY

The (two) Advocacy Country Lead(s) will provide support in the ongoing development and implementation of Friends of the Global Fund Europe’s political advocacy strategy in Nordic countries, with Sweden and Norway as priorities but also covering Denmark and Finland. He/she/they will develop tailored and strategic political advocacy and communication materials as well as organize advocacy events and initiatives to support and promote the Global Fund to Fight Aids Tuberculosis and Malaria and more widely global health issues in given Nordic countries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Advocacy Country Lead(s) will undertake the following tasks:

1. Providing support in the development and implementation of the national political advocacy strategy:

  • Contributing to the ongoing development and implementation of national advocacy strategies for the four Nordic countries covered by the project (with Sweden and Norway as priorities) under the direction of the Executive Director of Friends of the Global Fund Europe, and in an initial project set up phase (to be explained) with the support of the Executive Director of FGF as well as of the Nordic Working Group comprised of key partners.
  • Identifying and mobilizing advocacy partners in assigned countries to build a network of Global Fund supporters
  • Building partnerships and alliance with key high-level stakeholders in the region; liaising and coordinating advocacy efforts with other advocacy partners active in the region
  • Conducting advocacy on key priorities for the countries covered by the project and meeting with high-level stakeholders including senior political leaders and Government offices in charge of the Global Fund

2. Developing political advocacy materials and implementing advocacy events

  • Providing contents and materials for key advocacy, communications (including website) and media purposes on key priorities in the Nordic countries related to the Global Fund and global health
  • Planning and implementing advocacy events, communication initiatives and joint communication initiatives with partners
  • Contributing to Friends of the Global Fund Europe’s materials as required, especially relating to communication/coordination, member activities and events calendar or otherwise as required
  • Working closely with the Friends Europe headquarters, as well as with partners of the Nordic countries including members of the Nordic Working Group, to develop coordinated advocacy initiatives around Friends of the Global Fund Europe priority themes.

3. Reporting - Coordination

  • Reporting jointly to the Executive Director of Friends of the Global Fund Europe and to the Executive Director of Fund for the Global Fund
  • Providing regular information and updates on the activity workplans and initiatives
  • Participating in regular calls and reporting benchmarks established jointly by Friends of the Global Fund Europe and Fund for the Global Fund, in close collaboration with the Nordics Working Group in the initial set up phase.

4. Undertaking any other tasks related to the purposes of the project as requested by the Executive Directors of Friends of the Global Fund Europe and of Fund for the Global Fund.

Education, skills and competencies (minimum job requirements)

  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, development studies, international relations, global health or another related field, or corresponding relevant work experience
  • Five to ten years of relevant work experience with demonstrated skills in advocacy and/or high-level political engagement – Experience in global health, global health policy would be an asset
  • Existing network in the (global) public health, international development, academia, advocacy environments in one or more of the Nordic countries covered by this project would be an important asset
  • Demonstrated track record working on projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Outstanding proven time management and organizational skills
  • Strong project management skills.

Languages

Compulsory: Fluency in Swedish and/or Norwegian, as well as proficient knowledge of English.

Oral and written communication skills in Danish and/or Finish would be an asset.

Fees Competitive daily rate based on experience
