Norwegian Church Aid’s Humanitarian division is responsible for the implementation of NCA’s humanitarian strategy, the humanitarian thematic programme development, innovation and coordination of thematic resources, as well as contributing towards global humanitarian thematic policy and advocacy efforts. As MFA Grants Manager, you will have a vital role and you will be expected to manage NCA’s Strategic Partnership Agreement with MFA, serve as the overall focal point between NCA and the MFA, and will help continue to strengthen NCA’s strategic use of the funding through the Strategic Partnership Agreement. Through NCA’s strong international, this role will give you the ability to influence humanitarian results on a global arena. You will collaborate closely with all relevant stakeholders within NCA in order to make our responses even more effective than they are today.

As MFA Grants Manager you will have an important role in the direction and coordination of the Humanitarian division.In your role you will be expected to maintain donor relations and intelligence, work with proposals, contracts and compliance, ensure implementation of procedures, and assure reporting on grants are in line with NCA standards. You will also work in close coordination with a multiple of important stakeholders internally with NCA as well as externally. The Grants Manager is expected to contribute to the supervision of grant management approaches, systems and procedures and strategies.

The position is a permanent position, based at our Head Office in Oslo Norway. In this role, you will be a part of the department management team and report to the Director of International Programmes

Job description

  • Maintain a continuous dialogue and positive relationship between NCA and MFA.
  • Humanitarian division management responsibility in conjunction the Humanitarian Manager.
  • Ensuring cohesion and consistency between different level proposals and applications under the Strategic Partnership Agreement.
  • Prepare documentation and request disbursements from MFA according to MFA’s procedures.
  • Work closely with the Finance Dep. to monitor spending at the overall level and ensure budget reallocations are made within donor rules.
  • Lead reporting process on the Strategic Partnership Agreement.as well as coordinate preparations for the Annual Meeting between NCA and MFA.
  • Maintain collaboration with grant management counterparts in the 6H group.

Qualifications

  • Documented and solid experience from grant management and proposal writing in the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience working with and knowledge of major institutional agencies or donors and a solid understanding of their policies, requirements, and regulations.
  • Sound knowledge of donor practices, donor trends, priorities, and budget/financial control.
  • Experience in proposal development, proven track record of successful proposal writing.
  • Knowledge of international standards, common terminology and results-based project management tools for the humanitarian sector.
  • Relevant higher education.

  • Motivated by managing and developing personnel towards achieving common goals.
  • Norwegian is absolutely necessary in this role. Excellent English communication skills are also essential.
  • Analytical and strategic.
  • Able to work independently, but also be a team player.
  • Highly organized with solid interpersonal and IT skills.
  • Good at networking and maintaining professional relationships.
  • Able to self-organize and organize others effectively towards meeting deadlines.
  • Good at fostering constructive relations with colleagues and representatives from donors and other organizations.
  • Loyal to Norwegian Church Aid's Christian values and accept the Code of Conduct.

In accordance with core humanitarian principles, NCA implements a range of safeguards to prevent or reduce the possibility of humanitarian aid falling into the wrong hands.
