Background:
The NRC Head Office (HO) HR Unit is part of the wider HR directorate and provides a full range of HR development and operational support to the 250 staff and managers based in the Oslo Head Office. The HO HR Unit also ensures the implementation of global HR strategies, as they apply to HO, and has responsibility for the facilities management and administration of the HO premises. The HR Adviser is responsible for providing advice and guidance to line managers across HR areas such as recruitment, performance management, compensation, employee relations, wellbeing, attendance, and employment legislation.
Duties and responsibilities
Generic Responsibilities:
- Advice on personnel issues, mediate in conflicts and possible legal issues and prepare personnel cases when required
- Advise HO managers on personnel planning and recruitment processes, departmental organisational changes and encourage HR synergies across departments at HO, e.g
- Share best practises on operative HR issues with other HR advisers in NRC, through regular fora for cooperation
- Ensure good implementation of HR initiatives
- Compliance and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Carry out other duties of a temporary character appointed by Head of Unit
Specific Responsibilities:
- Follow up staff on leave from Head office and staff on internal rotation at HO with both staff and the manager, and secure the return
- Be responsible and the main expert advisor on sick leave towards both employees, managers and the HO HR team. Be the NRC key contact towards NAV on sick leave
Qualifications
- Experienced HR Professional with 5-10 years expertise in a range of different HR disciplines, including performance management, employee engagement, employment relations and legislation, handling disputes
- Good knowledge of Norwegian labour system, legal requirements and agreements – ref; Working Environment Act and National Insurance Act (Folketrygdeloven: (lov og avtaleverk, herav Arbeidsmiljøloven, folketrygdeloven, etc )
- Having HSE-related work experience and especially to follow up of both employees and managers regarding sick leave, conflict management and personnel issues.
- Being comfortable in guiding and advising line managers and employees in all HR related matters
- Being comfortable in working with Working Environment Committee (AMU)
- Having documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Fluent in both *Norwegian and English
