In order to do so, our Finance Department at NCA includes 30 employees who manage over one billion NOK that are distributed through emergency and development projects in more than 28 countries.
As Internal Controller, you will have a central role in NCA with a direct reporting line to the General Secretary together with a key role in the Finance department. You will be responsible for developing an effective, systematic and proactive management structure work within the organization on compliance, risk management and internal control. You will also review performance and propose changes for the organization’s success. You will achieve this being adaptable, results oriented and a driving force for change. You are clear and concise and can build upon multiple initiatives across NCA. You work productively to meet deadlines, have an acute attention to detail, the ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks, a problem-solving attitude, and the ability to maintain positive relationships under difficult circumstances. NCA ensures compliance with generally recognized principles of accounting and internal auditing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating the organization's comprehensive system for compliance, risk management and internal control.
- Examine and review the adequacy and effectiveness of the NCA's governance, risk management process, system of internal control, and the quality of performance in carrying out assigned responsibilities to achieve NCA's stated goals and objectives.
- Conduct specific reviews or tasks requested by senior management.
- Ensure continuous improvement and change within the established systems to ensure compliance with policies, plans, procedures, laws, and regulations and establish whether NCA is in fact in compliance.
Qualifications
- Experience from internal controls functions and deep knowledge and understanding of similar roles and responsibilities
- MBA or equivalent but relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education.
- Excellent oral and written English skills are required. French skills are a considerable advantage.
- Experience from public service and/or the NGO sector is an advantage.
- International experience is an asset.
Personal qualities
- Ability to work independently, analytically and structured, as well as being able to deliver according to set targets.
- Solid collaborative skills when discussing compliance issues with other departments, country offices and local partners.
- Ability to endure cultural challenges and change resistance
- The position requires travelling to all NCA project countries
- Loyal to Norwegian Church Aid's Christian values and accept the Code of Conduct.
