Are you eager to make an impact and further develop your skills in economic inclusion in one of the most influential NGO's?

In 2019, NRC decided to strengthen its organisational capacity to promote the economic inclusion of people affected by displacement to contribute to its strategic ambition of “being a champion for durable solutions”. In 2020 and beyond, NRC wants to take stock of, verify and further develop four integrated livelihoods approaches that foster the economic inclusion of people affected by displacement: Economic Recovery, Displacement Inclusive Markets, Education to Work Transition and Economic Empowerment. The Global Specialist Economic Inclusion will be part of an inter-disciplinary team consisting of global advisors/specialists from the Livelihoods and Food Security, Education, Information, counselling and legal assistance (ICLA), and Shelter and Settlements core competencies as well as M&E. A key deliverable of this inter-disciplinary team is the successful roll-out of the economic inclusion learning project in 2020, with the Global Specialist Economic Inclusion taking on the role of the global project lead.

Duties and responsibilities

Economic inclusion learning project
Responsible for the design, roll-out and monitoring of the economic inclusion learning project together with the Economic Inclusion team.
Responsible for documenting and disseminating country-level innovation, case studies and lessons learnt through webinars, workshops, etc.
Contribute to the communication of results and the development of recommendations to senior management at Head Office, Regional Offices and Coutry Offices.
Economic Inclusion Fundraising
Responsible for identifying and mobilising resources in collaboration with HO (external and corporate relations), ROs and COs through private or institutional donors to further develop and expand the economic inclusion portfolio in 2021 and beyond.
Technical development
· Responsible for the technical development of the Economic Inclusion portfolio.
· Responsible for strategic prioritising within Economic Inclusion to ensure global positioning.
· Responsible for the adaptation of NRC’s Economic Inclusion approaches through innovation and development, in close cooperation with country offices.
Partnership Development and Network Engagement
Responsible for maintaining, developing and formalising global partnerships relevant for economic inclusion, e.g. with Trickle Up, the BOMA Project, the International Labour Organization, the International Trade Centre, Innovest Advisory, KfW and GiZ.
Contribute to global level engagement with the Refugee Self-Reliance Initiative and the SEEP network.

Qualifications

Minimum 5 years of relevant Manager/Specialist/Adviser experience within Economic Inclusion in humanitarian and development organisations

  • Degree in a relevant field in the area of economics, development studies, business administration or similar.
  • Experience in economic inclusion programmes with displaced populations in urban and rural areas, including activities related to economic empowerment (e.g. graduation approach), market-systems development approaches (M4P), entrepreneurship, employment promotion, private sector engagement and financial inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with government, business owners, chambers of commerce, financial institutions, displaced populations and host communities.
    Strong skills in conceptualising and explaining complex technical issues to non-professionals
  • Demonstrated experience in facilitating remote team work and in using remote work software (e.g. Zoom, slack and Office 365).
  • Skills in facilitation of stakeholder engagement/workshops as well as experience with engaging with key humanitarian stakeholders
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Experience in drafting and encouraging implementation of policy/strategic guidance, and developing practical tools and resources
  • Able to represent organisation at a strategic level, and contribute to global policy development with key donors and stakeholders
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, fluency in Arabic, Spanish or French is an asset.
