Background

The main purpose of the NRC’s Anti-corruption and Investigation Specialist is to support NRC's overall management of mitigating and handling all corruption related risks and to provide expert advice and guidance on all corruption related issues across the organisation. The role should also provide investigation advice and contribute to developing a coherent system for handling investigations in NRC. The outcome of that work may slightly change the scope of this position.
The position sits within the newly set-up global Risk Management section together with other expert risk-related functions within Legal, Data Protection, Protection against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Safeguarding and Risk Management. The section has been established to drive new processes and behaviours to enable NRC to better manage risks, foster a risk management culture, and improve organisational effectiveness.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Be NRC's overall focal point on Anti-Corruption and foster an AC culture within the organisation
  • Provide expert advice in handling and investigating (alleged) cases of corruption
  • Provide specialist advice and support to the Country, Regional, Representation offices and HO management on AC issues
  • Be the main point of contact with NRC's major donors on AC topics and corruption cases
  • Be the global focal point for NRC’s AC-/Investigations-staff
  • Analyse trends and patterns to inform NRC’s AC strategy, identify main areas of risk and advice on appropriate mitigation measures
  • Own and develop the AC global policy and handbook, and global training and induction material within the field
  • Develop and maintain NRC's guidelines on how to react at the different stages of (alleged) cases of corruption
  • Promote AC best practices within NRC by sharing success stories, internal learning and advances from other peer organisations on the subject.

Qualifications

  • University degree in investigations, law or other related field, or significant training and experience within the field of investigations,
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably within the humanitarian sector,
  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts,
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal. French,Arabic or Spanish** is a plus,
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
