Background
The Nordic International Support Foundation (NIS) is a Norwegian-registered non-profit organisation engaged in stabilisation and reconciliation initiatives in conflict and post-conflict areas. Its primary areas of intervention are institutional development, basic public service delivery, and stabilisation measures. Headquartered in Oslo, Norway, NIS currently implements projects in Mali, Myanmar, and Somalia.
In Myanmar, NIS work to support social cohesion and the peace process at local, regional and national level through three separate funding platforms: the Paung Sie Facility (PSF); the Joint Peace Fund (JPF); and the Women’s Voice and Leadership (WVL) project. In addition, NIS is operating a Local Insights service (LIS) to provide perceptions and understanding on local dynamics – political, social, economic and cultural – to help mitigate risks to successful programme development and delivery. Essential functions
The Programme Coordinator will be the focal point at the NIS Oslo office for the Myanmar country programme as well as Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Advisor for NIS more broadly.
The position will provide timely support to country projects offices with a focus on:
- Developing projects and strategies in collaboration with country office(s).
- Following up the implementation of Myanmar programme activities / project progress.
- Following up budget (with support from and in collaboration with the Oslo Finance team) of Myanmar programmes.
- Following up project and programme specific GESI strategies and Plan of Actions across NIS country programmes.
Some travelling will be required.
Position responsibilities
- Contribute to development and implementation of project work plans and strategies, including GESI components for NIS country programmes.
- Support monitoring, reporting (narrative and financial), analyses and assessments throughout the life of the projects.
- Assist in donor reporting and fundraising: contribute to creating funding proposals and donor reports to the project donor.
- Some travelling will be required.

Desired qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in programme coordination and reporting;
- Proven understanding of project budgets and budget monitoring.
- Experience with programming in conflict-affected and transitional environments.
- Proven track record of project proposal and report writing.
- Strong collaboration and organizational skills.
- Highly desirable: demonstrable understanding and experience in applying international best practice conflict, aid and development principles including Gender Equality Social Inclusion (GESI), do no harm and conflict sensitivity.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Thorough understanding of the conflict/post-conflict/transitional contexts.
