ABOUT FRIENDS OF THE GLOBAL FUND EUROPE
"Friends of the Global Fund Europe" is a non-profit organization created in 2005. Its mission is political advocacy for global health and the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria, particularly for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Based in Paris, it operates in Europe both nationally and internationally.
Its activities aim to raise awareness among decision makers and stakeholders on the three epidemics and global health, and to help mobilizing resources to fight these diseases especially to the benefit of the Global Fund.
It covers a wide range of advocacy initiatives from health research programs to implementation and evaluation falling within the scope of the three epidemics as well as all issues related to the Global Fund – and of advocacy targets likely, in particular public decision-makers, parliamentarians, civil society organizations and influential figures in global health.
In order to expand its advocacy activities in the Nordic countries with Sweden and Norway as priorities, Friends of the Global Fund Europe is looking for a consultant specialised in political advocacy.
POSITION SUMMARY
The advocacy consultant will provide support in developing and implementing Friends of the Global Fund Europe’s political advocacy strategy in the Nordic countries with Sweden and Norway as priorities. He/she will develop political advocacy materials and will organize advocacy events and initiatives to support and promote the Global Fund Against Aids Tuberculosis and Malaria and more widely global health issues.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The consultant will undertake the following tasks:
1. Providing support in the development and implementation of the national political advocacy strategy:
• Contributing to the development of an appropriate national advocacy strategies (Nordic countries with Sweden and Norway as priorities) under the direction of the Executive Director of Friends of the Global Fund Europe.
• Identifying potential partners in the countries, starting to create a network of Global Fund supporters and building partnerships/alliances with key stakeholders
• Conducting advocacy on Friends of the Global Fund Europe's key priorities for the countries and meeting with high-level stakeholders including senior political leaders and Government offices in charge of the Global Fund
2. Developing political advocacy materials and implementing advocacy events
• Providing contents and producing materials for key advocacy, communications (including website) and media purposes on Friends of the Global Fund Europe's priorities in the Nordic countries
• Planning and implementing advocacy events, communication initiatives and joint communication initiatives with partners
• Contributing to Friends of the Global Fund Europe materials as required, especially relating to Communication / coordination, member activities and events calendar
• Working closely with the Friends Europe headquarters to develop coordinated advocacy initiatives on Friends of the Global Fund Europe priority themes
3.Reporting - Coordination• Reporting to the Executive Director of Friends of the Global Fund Europe and providing regular information and updates on the activity workplans and initiatives.
4. Undertaking any other task related to the purposes of the providence as requested by the Executive Director.
Education and skills (minimum job requirements)
▪ Master's degree in political science, development studies, international relations, global health or other related field
▪ Five years of relevant work experience with demonstrated skills in advocacy
▪ Good knowledge of international environment especially of global health
▪ Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Ability to write clear and concise reports
▪ Proven ability to network and to cultivate internal and external relationships
▪ Analytical, decision making and presentation skills
▪ Proven ability to produce results within tight deadlines and under pressure situations
▪ Outstanding proven time management and organizational skills
Langages
▪ Compulsory: Swedish / Norwegian and English. Fluent in French would be an asset.
Fees
▪ Daily rate is competitive and based on experience
▪ Part time consultancy services (about 8-10 days per month)
