Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Unit
For us to be able to protect the rights of displaced and vulnerable people effectively, and so that we can understand the extent to which our programmes have the impact we intend, we need to be able to implement our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework. We are searching for a head of our new Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the Head Office in Oslo who can give overall strategic direction to the organisation on critical functions that span from the collection, analysis, interpretation and use of M&E data, to the planning of evaluations and organizational learning. We seek someone who can support the organisation in developing and implementing our M&E Framework at a global strategic level as we continuously look to improve our work.
The M&E Unit is part of the Strategic Planning and Development (SPD) Section which has a global leading role in the organisational development, change, improvement and capacity building. of NRC in line with overall strategic direction and within the role of the Organisational Development Directorate.

Some of the responsibilities and tasks
- Line management of the M&E Unit in SPD
- Lead the performance of the Unit and ensure that it is in line with NRC’s overall strategic direction.
- Develop and lead the M&E Unit’s role as ‘Centre of Excellence’ in governing and providing support to the implementation of the M&E function in NRC.
- Enable, coordinate and drive NRC global M&E team, across organisational levels, to optimize resources and maximize results.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years relevant work experience, of which at least 2 years relevant work experience in humanitarian/development contexts.
- Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Experience of developing and implementing new M&E systems and approaches
- Understanding of organisational change processes, and ability to engage colleagues
- Leader experience and knowledge of own leadership skills

The position is a permanent position based in Strategic Planning and Development Section at the NRC Head Office. The contract conditions are as per national NRC Oslo terms of employment.
