NRC is looking to increase its protection programming via integrated and stand alone protection projects. We are now recruiting a Roving Protection Adviser, with the purpose to strengthen protection in NRC’s programmes and response, with the main focus on Central - and West Africa. The Roving Protection Adviser is responsible for / leads on identifying priority protection issues, developing project proposals and concept notes, and representing NRC to donors for protection programming when in country
The position reports to the Global Protection Adviser.
Job description Ensure compliance with NRC policies and procedures, handbooks and guidelines and/or propose new initiatives to bridge gaps and implement these. Responsible for providing specialist expertise, strategic advice and programme development on protection. Responsible for supporting country offices in conducting protection analysis to identify gaps in programmes and policy. Responsible for the development of concept notes and proposals to respond to the identified protection gaps Ensure buy in and ownership from the country programmes for the proposed protection programme approach. Responsibility for representing NRC to donors for protection programming. Conduct field mission to 2-3 NRC country operations in Central and West Africa Establish strong working relationships with NRC field, programme and management teams and external protection actors.
Qualifications Minimum 7 years of relevant professional experience within the humanitarian field – minimum 3 in a highly insecure context. Significant experience in protection programming including protection analysis and project design. Demonstrate success in proposal writing for protection interventions, preferably for ECHO, USAid, UNHCR and DFID. Able to represent organisation at a strategic level Knowledge of the situation in Central and West Africa an asset Fluency in English and French both written and verbal

We offer Commencement: April 2018 Duration: 6 months Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s general directions and free housing of moderate standard. Grade: 8 Duty station: Roving Approved health certficate will be requested before contract start.
