Introduction to NCA
Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) is involved in humanitarian assistance in natural disasters, in complex emergencies and in a number of protracted crises. Our country offices respond to local disasters while surge capacity is maintained at the head office to support disaster response in large-scale disasters and capacity building. NCA core competency is in WASH and a commitment to the Core Humanitarian Standards is at the center of our efforts to improve quality and accountability to affected populations. Together with the ACT Alliance we maintain presence and preparedness in around 135 countries in the world and can provide multi-sector humanitarian response.
Information about the position
NCA is looking for a team of expert trainers that can prepare and run a three-day in-house training in advanced inter-sectoral programming for our emergency response staff, using WASH & nutrition as the inter-sectoral focus.
The training will be held in Oslo on the 7th 8th 9th of November 2017.
AIM: To develop the skills and confidence needed to design and deliver effective inter-sectoral WASH & Nutrition programming
TARGET GROUP: 22 participants;
10 NCA Head Office Emergency Response Professionals
7 NCA Emergency Response Roster members
5 NCA Country office WASH professionals
Scope: The training team should be at least two professionals that can develop and run this training. The methodologies used can be agreed upon during the development of the program in concert with NCA.

Plan and run a three-day advance training in inter-sectoral programming with a focus on nutrition & WASH.

What are the components of nutrition programing and how to effectively combine these into an emergency WASH programing
Case studies of programs that have a proven improvement in nutrition in emergencies
Monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programing
Method for assessing behaviour change
Relevant coordination mechanisms and platforms in WASH and Nutrition programming
Common barriers, challenges and needs for successful integration
Examples of integration at different levels and contexts
Aligning WASH and Nutrition programming (Case-studies)
Evidence on the impact of WASH on nutritional status, and vice versa
Note: NCA has a response expertise is WASH in emergencies so we are looking toward this training to increase our response team’s capacity in nutrition programming and how that may complement our WASH programming to save lives in emergencies.
Qualifications
- Technical expertise in nutrition with a focus inter-sectoral programming WASH & nutrition
- Expert in adult education (training, coaching and consulting) with demonstrable track record
- Knowledge and experience of using participatory approaches and innovative facilitation techniques
- Excellent communication skills and fluency in English
