Norway: Head of Global Controlling - Finance Department

We are looking for a sociable and energetic head of global controlling!
As Head of division for global controlling, you will manage 11 employees in a unit that is in charge of NCA’s global financial management. NCA has an annual turnover of NOK 870 million, distributed through emergency and development projects in more than 37 countries. Your most important role will be to ensure exceptional financial management in NCA's global operations. As head of global controlling, you will work hands-on, and at the same time contribute to the continuous organizational improvement and development of the department. In order to succeed and thrive in the position, you are comfortable with creating and leading change. You are structured, but at the same time solution-oriented and are not afraid to challenge your team. You understand how to form a team environment, enjoy working in a team, and are able to build capacity and competence at home and abroad.

Job description

  • Set direction by prioritizing and organizing actions and resources to achieve efficient financial resource utilization, oversee reporting, as well as risk management in Oslo and abroad.

  • Drive change and improvement in accounting and finance management processes by promoting accountability and learning. You will communicate expectations and provide constructive feedback informally and formally via regular performance reviews.

  • Foster a culture of learning and adaptation in developing guidelines and routines that build capacity and competence within finance management and accounting processes.

  • Communicate a clear vision of present and future management goals and strategies to team members while at the same time challenging management at Head Office and at Representations in making decisions related to activity.

  • Control and quality assure deliveries in the yearly financial cycle. This will include budgets, allocations, transfers, and reporting to Head Office and back donors.

  • Maintain high ethical standards in identifying risk in the finance management process (internally and externally with partners) and advise on actions for follow-up.

    Qualifications

  • University degree in finance but relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education.

  • Solid leadership experience, particularly within the area of finance, including proven experience in managing personnel.

  • Demonstrated success managing and bringing together a multi-cultural team with team members in multiple offices.

  • Excellent oral and written English skills required. Norwegian and French skills are an advantage.

  • You have high constructive mentoring skills and proven experience with capacity building and are committed to long-term program sustainability and the delivery of high-impact activities.

  • You can work independently, analytically and structured, and have documented ability to deliver according to targets

  • You thrive in evolving and challenging environments, and make effective written and verbal communication a priority.

  • The position requires some travelling, approx. 40-50 days per year, including conflict/high risk areas

  • Loyal to Norwegian Church Aid's Christian values and accept the Code of Conduct
